🕊 The First Experiment in Liberation
Published 2 months ago • 4 min read
January 18, 2026
Cheers to a new day Star,
I started this year by creating a treaty with myself. I’ll be honest, I haven't been reading it every night. I think I need to print it out and make it a real ritual.
My treaty
Why? Because recently, I had a conversation with someone I love deeply, and I felt myself slide into old patterns. Patterns that don't serve me. I was semi-aware in the moment, but now I’m hyper-aware. And I’m actually grateful. That situation was a wake-up call. It showed me where my work still is.
Instead of just taking this as a private lesson, I felt my connection to the greater collective. What if we didn't just talk about creating treaties with ourselves, but actually started a series of experiments? A collective practice in liberation?
So, welcome to Experiments in Liberation. This is a 3-part micro-series for anyone feeling the call to shed old skins and step into a more intentional version of themselves.
Why Liberation? Why Now?
We’re in a powerful moment. In Chinese astrology, we’re still in the Year of the Snake (shedding) until February 17th, when the swift and potent Fire Horse Year begins. This is a time for ideas to take flight. But first, we must learn to truly listen to what wants to emerge from within us.
This whole series is about Collaboration and Commitment. Collaboration with yourself, your intuition, and the world around you. Commitment to the self-agreements that set you free.
Experiment #1: The Method of Listening
To understand who you are, you must listen. To understand who I am, I must listen. This first experiment is about crafting a method for listening to understand.
Listen to others as if you are listening to a mountain. You don’t listen to change a mountain or push it. You observe it. You feel the wind wrap around it. You try to understand a language that may not be your first. You recognize you’re not so different. This practice builds empathy and often holds up a mirror to our own unseen parts.
What are people expressing? Complaining about? Celebrating? Their words are data points about the human experience, which is also your experience.
Then, we turn inward. Listening In is somatic first, intellectual second.
Sense & Feel: Before you think about it, feel it. Where is it in your body? If it’s supportive, put a hand on your heart. Close your eyes. Get fluent in the language of your own soul.
Open Up: Now, open to your intuition. Pair this with opening to God, the Universe, or your Highest Self. There’s a subtle difference here, intuition is that piece of the infinite that resides within you. Listen for the quiet nudge, not the loud reaction.
Finally, Integrate and Share.
From this place of deep listening, you can now craft what you want to share. Maybe it’s a desire that arose from your sensing. Maybe it’s something your intuition whispered.
Then, ask the other(s): “What do you desire? What do you want?” Leave the space open for true collaboration.
Your Experiment This Week: Practice this method once. With a partner, a child, a friend. Listen to them like a mountain. Feel your own reaction. Open to your intuition. Share from that new place. Ask what they want. Observe what changes.
Remember: You don't have to design your liberation alone.

Feburary 23, 2026 Cheers to a new day Star, Wow, there's a fresh new energy around us! Can you feel it? Something has shifted and I'm feeling very energized and clear. I'll be honest the past two weeks before Feburary 17 (Lunar New Year/ Mardi Gras/Ring of Fire Eclipse) I was not feeling like myself. I was shedding my final year of the wood snake skin and it was my own ego and old idenitity that was connected to all the things I had lost. I know that I am not alone in the mass amount of loss...
